Toy Story Land Review | Rope Drop Radio

Andy’s toys welcomed us all to his back yard for the first time on June 30th. It was an adventure as we walked in and shrunk to the size of a Green Army Man. The land was first announced back at D23 in 2015 and the 11 acres of fun is open with much anticipation!

We get two new attractions and a reconfigured entrance to the popular Toy Story Midway Maina. Toy Story Maina remains the same at Hollywood Studios but welcome back Mr. Potato Head as the carnival barker.

The first big ticket item you see zipping around Toy Story Land is Slinky Dog Dash. This is a Family friendly coaster. It does not have a traditional lift hill but a launch. I think this help lessen the scary factor when trying to get younger kids on the coaster. The height requirement is 38 inches for Slinky. FastPass+ is available and highly recommend for this attraction but very tough to get. There are a few twists and turns and the. A second acceleration with some nice ups and downs before coming back into the stations where you are serenaded by an animatronic of Wheeze singing you got a friend in me. This coaster adds a lot of great kinetic energy to this area!

The next addition to Hollywood Studios in Toy Story Land is Alien swirling saucers. This ride is a whip like ride where you climb aboard a rocket pulled by a little green alien. The claw looms above! This ride is a copy of Maters Junkyard Jamboree found at Disney’s California Adventure. This attraction has a height requirement of 32 inches and FastPass+ is also available and is recommended if you can not get one for Slinky Dog.

For Disney Foodies Woody’s Lunch Box will hit the spot with many different options. From breakfast to Dinner they have you covered. It is a counter service window with outside seating and some umbrellas above some tables. The theme is over the top here with lots of great hidden touches. The menu is of course subject to change as one sandwich has disappeared with in the first week. Potato Barrels(tatter tot) is a staple of this location and the walking taco is the star of this round up.

The character hunters will be happy to know that Woody, Jessie, and Buzz are still found in Toy Story Land. They meet out side in front of the new entrance to Toy Story Maina.

One other little touch the toys thought to add to this land was plenty of Instagram worthy walls! From popsicle sticks to a checker board you have lots of options for getting a great pic!

Over all the theming of Toy Story Land is top notch from the use of Christmas lights to the plants to make you feel like you are in the back yard. Also the “fence” around the land to keep the neighbors out. You can see the top of Tower of Terror (which is not Sid’s House – Andy moved at the end of the first movie and the land is set with characters from the later movies) and catch a glimpse of the on going construction for Galaxies Edge. This land is a great addition to Hollywood Studios where it desperately needed a few more rides for younger kids.

So, are you ready to “Play Big” in Toy Story Land?
