Don’t call it a come back. Call it what it is: a return from sadness. I stopped writing because of sadness. My state government will not allow me to travel to Florida, but with the vaccine being rolled out and my son 2/3 of the way cooked, we have booked a trip in February 2022! I know that’s a year away, but I figure I should temper my excitement into this blog.
So now, let’s start a little series I like to call fixing the Magic Kingdom. I will be going through each land and make five changes ranging from simple to extreme changes in each land. Hopefully, this will optimize the Magic Kingdom to its full potential.
Since Derick and Doug talked Tomorrowland on this week’s Rope Drop Radio show, that is where we are going to begin.
- Tomorrowland Speedway– First, let’s nix the gas-powered cars. Combustion engines are so outdated it’s not even funny anymore. Disney has been making great stride to get greener by using renewable energy. This is a simple fix. Simply get Ford, GM, or Tesla to sponsor the attraction and provide a Disney version of Electric or Solar Cars. This makes the ride futuristic and eco-friendly. This solution is a real win-win.
- Astro Orbiter’s Queue – The main issue with this Queue line is the elevator. I assume when the park was made the elevator was themed because Astronauts take an elevator of sorts to a real rocket, but real Astronauts don’t need to stand in a hot elevator with 25 other sweaty humans (Pre-Pandemic) to gain access to their ride vehicle. The fix is simply once again. Just make the elevator for Handicapped people only and put in some old fashion steps. This will extend the queue and, I assume, speed up load time.
- Turn Tomorrow Land Terrace into a Table Service– We need to completely gut this waste of space. Let’s add what Magic Kingdom desperately needs more of, sit-down dining options. Now Space 220 would make a lot of since in this location but since future world took that theme, we need to pivot. We are going to ad an IP and make this a Farm to Table, WALL-E themed restaurant. Right now, this is all I have but I assume the Imagineers can take this amazing idea and turn it into reality.
- Fill the Space Between Space Mountain and Carousel of Progress – Expand this colossal waste of space into more space ranger stuff. With Disney+ saying they are doing a Buzz Lightyear origin story, double down on an already successful and beloved character ride. Make it into an interactive stage show that people can gather and watch almost like the Jedi training Academy. Parents can sign their kids up and, in the end, they can battle the evil emperor Zurg. This would also make it so you can expand the character meet and greet to add in the new characters coming from the new Buzz movie (Cash Cow).
- A New Stitch Ride – This will never happen, but I believe Disney was right to give Stitch his own attraction. They just failed so badly on Stitch’s Great Escape no one has any faith in them. Stitch possesses the power to stay in the park. He remains one of their most popular characters according to me. If Disney went to the drawling board and did some type of motion simulator ride that was him actually escaping, the ride would definitely be a hit. Think Star Tours meets a dark ride, which isn’t too scary so kids will want to ride it but put a little bit of thrill into it so it can be fun for all ages. It will be outer space themed so it will fit into Tomorrowland and may finally make that building successful. Let me say it again, Disney had the right character but an awful attraction.
Okay so there it is. I just fixed Tomorrowland. Now, if only I could remove that awful George Clooney movie from our heads, we would all be better for it. Next stop Adventureland.
