Festival of the Arts is growing!
It’s no secret that our family’s favorite time to visit the parks is in the early months of the year. My wife and my wedding anniversary is at the end of January, and typically, the weather in Nebraska is cold – it’s the perfect time to get away! For the last three winter trips, we have been able to be a part of the newest festival offering at Disney World’s Epcot: The Festival of the Arts. Unlike the Food and Wine Festival in the fall or the Flower and Garden in the spring, this festival is much less crowded and has offerings beyond the snacks and drinks.
Great Escape From the Winter
Held every year in January and February, you can take part in art classes or watch local artists create a new masterpieces using a myriad of methods from painting to charcoal drawings to 3D chalk creations and so much more. My favorite part is being able to eat and drink my way around the World’s Pavilions watching my favorite Disney characters come to life through art. Don’t get me wrong, Food and Wine is awesome, but the Arts give me more to do than just regrets over eating too much! Ha!
Great For Kids
I especially like the Festival of Arts for bringing kids to the Park. Each country has craft stations, sidewalk chalk, t-shirt painting – TONS of options geared for kids to create their own special memories. We always look forward to the scavenger hunt around World Showcase (there’s a prize for completing it!) and adding our hand to the Hands-On Wall Mural, a painting that every Epcot guest can take part in to make and be a part of something truly magical.
More Then Meets the Eye
In addition to the “seen” arts of the Festival, you can also catch live music performances, acrobatic feats, street performers, and marching bands. And now you can catch the Broadway-style music productions from world-wide-known performers every day! Of all the Festivals, for both Doug and I, Festival of the Arts is our favorite. More to do? Less people? Sign us up! You’ll see an uptick in crowds as locals come to enjoy Disney’s offerings over the weekend, so for your best experience, we recommend checking it out during the week, especially with the daily addition of the Disney Broadway shows! All in all, though it may seem like just another way to trap tourists, Festival of the Arts is a wonderful addition to Epcot and one that we hope you will enjoy as much as we did!
